The memorial service for Gladys Nave will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, January 22, 2023at Fairview Christian Church in Paint Lick
Gladys Mae Nave, 102, of Lancaster, passed away Monday, December 12, 2022 at Landmark of Lancaster. Born on Friday, February 27, 1920 in Garrard County, she was a daughter of the late Thomas Freeman & Madie Lois McCarty Wells. Gladys was a farmer & homemaker. She wore many hats during her 102 years. She loved flowers, gardening & canning. She enjoyed cooking, birds, reading, and all of her farm animals. She loved traveling and was always ready to go. She loved jokes, especially “preacher jokes” as she called them. Gladys attended Fairview Christian Church all of her life. She remembered that as a child on Hurt Ln., they would ride in horse & buggy up the creek bed to go to church. She was involved with activities & committees at church. Gladys taught Sunday School, Bible School, was a deacon, loved being in the choir, and was a board member. She was also in the Golden Age Choir. Gladys did her fair share in working public jobs—everything from restaurants and cafeterias to hospital aid, nursing home aid, to selling Tupperware at home parties. Her volunteer work was very important to her. She helped at the Friends of Paint Lick, & the Family Ministry Center. She was made a Kentucky Colonel under the Ernie Fletcher Administration. She made many friends through the years & still remembered them. She enjoyed a good memory until the end.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Nave; great-grandson, Justin Alexander; sisters, Ruth Wells, Marguerite Maupin, Lena Hawkins, Geneva Fisher, Dorothy Hendrickson & infant Ada Wells.
Survivors include her daughters, Amy (Danny) Ray, Sue (The Late Paul) McKnight, all of Lancaster; grandchildren, Steve McKnight, Jerry McKnight, Lisa Domidion, Paula Edwards; great-grandchildren, Bailee Alexander, Cameron Alexander, Kristie Baitcher, Ryan McKnight, Taylor DeBord; great-great-grandchildren, Sawyer DeBord, Hayes DeBord, Mason Baitcher & Daniel Baitcher.
