Loyd G Chadwell

Loyd Gilbert Chadwell, 90, of Clarksville, IN passed away on Saturday November 27, 2021 at the IU Health Bloomington Hospital.  Loyd was born July 29, 1931 in Stanford KY and was the son of the late Duff Eugene and Mabel (Mullins) Chadwell.  Loyd is preceded in death by a son, Gregory F. Chadwell, grandson, Lucas M. Edwards.

Loyd was 1 of 7 children and grew up in Stanford KY.  On April 5, 1952 he married Mary (Foster) Chadwell, and relocated to Orleans IN where he raised 3 children and lived for 30 years.  He had a large farming business including many grass farms and a cattle feedlot.  He bought and sold cattle and conducted business with many other cattle farms throughout the Midwest.  He was an avid pilot and owned a single engine plane for many years, which he would often use for business trips.  In 1983 he relocated to the Louisville area where he continued to live for the remainder of his life.  He worked in the timber and pallet business full time until the age of 89. 

Loyd is survived by one sibling, sister Caroline, of Louisville, a son Loyd F Chadwell, of Chicago and a daughter Mary Edwards and her spouse Mike of Bloomington, Indiana,  grandchildren Melissa Jackson, Paul Chadwell and Zachary Edwards, and great-grandchildren David, Maya, Pete, Ben, Marley, Nora and Vance. 

The family will receive friends on Wednesday December 1, 2021 from 11:00 AM until service time at 1:00PM at Ramsey-Young Funeral Home. Burial to follow at Fairview Cemetery with Rev. Daryl Hodge officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the local Hospice organization in your area.
