Marcus Daly (72), our husband, our dad, our Poppa, our Uncle Mark, and the one who taught us all to crappie fish, died at his home on March 23, 2021 after a short illness. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Della Daly, and one brother, Ronnie Daly. He is survived by his wife, Gilda, of 52 years and their two children, Marcus Daly, Jr. and his wife Kathleen and Amy Marie Smith and her husband, Shane. He also leaves behind his favorite and beloved grandchildren Sarah Marie Daly and her fiancé Bill, Mary Catherine Daly, Paul Allen Daly and Hayden Conner Smith, one brother, Jeff Daly and wife Rebecca, one uncle, Doug Lamb and several nieces and nephews.
Marcus was a disabled U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War and a veteran of the Kentucky State Police. After leaving the K.S.P. he was a self employed small business owner, fisherman, and most importantly, he was a poppa.
Our Family expresses gratitude to the Frankfort Regional Medical Center, The Mackey Cancer Center and the VA Medical Center in Lexington for their compassionate professionalism and especially to Bluegrass Hospice Care for taking this difficult journey along side of us with patience, grace, and dignity.
