Peggy Ann (Dennis) Yeakey

Peggy Yeakey passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, February 7, 2023. She was born on Saturday, June 12, 1943 to the late Bertha & Roy Dennis. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Joyce Clark, and her self proclaimed second parents, Helen & J.T. Murphy.

Peggy loved her home on the farm watching the cattle graze the hillsides and talking to her beloved cat, Crook. She helped with the family businesses for years. During her younger years, she and Joyce worked side by side in their family owned Dairy Freeze where they prepared thousands of burgers and rolled many perfect ice cream cones.

Peggy is survived by her childhood sweetheart and husband of 63 years, Kenneth Yeakey; two daughters, Lita (Joe) Leavell and Lori (Carl) Johnson; two grandsons, K. J. (Alana) Leavell and Kent Johnson; a brother-in-law, Gordon Clark; and a special niece Jan (Norman) Davis. Lastly she leaves behind her two precious great grandchildren, Copely & Sally Leavell. They loved their “Deedee” and certainly brought her many smiles and kisses making her last earthly years more joyful. She will be their guardian angel.

Peggy’s requested graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, February 10, 2023, at the Lancaster Cemetery shelter with burial following and Rev. Mike Denny officiating. Pallbearers include Joe Leavell, Carl Johnson, K.J. Leavell, Kent Johnson, Norman Davis, and Jordan Davis. The family appreciates all of your kind words and prayers as we navigate life without her.
