Roger "Lannie" Buckner Obituary

Roger “Lannie” Buckner, 71, of Lancaster, passed away Sunday, November 14, 2021 at his home. Born on Sunday, December 04, 1949 in Monterey, Tennessee, he was the son of the late General Jr., & Lidda Elizabeth Vaughn Buckner. Lannie was a United States Army veteran, who served during the Vietnam War era, where he served as a medic. He was a former employee for the Nicholasville Post Office for many years. Lannie was a member of Pentecostal Fellowship Church, a member of the N.R.A., the Purple Heart Association, the V.F.W., and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was also a music minister, recording artist, painter, horseman, and evangelist. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Charlotte Tanner.

Survivors include his wife, Jill McKnight Buckner; sons, Stony (Beth) Buckner & Stephen Buckner, both of Tennessee, John William Brooks II, of Richmond; daughters, Chessy (Daryl) Hines, of Lancaster, Liz (Justin) Manning, of Florida; sisters, Carlene (David) Henderson, Kaye (Eddie) Brown & Pam (Jeff) Hunter, all of Tennessee; brother-in-law, Etzel Tanner, of Tennessee; grandchildren, Caleb (Nicole) Hamm, Marie Buckner (Tristan Courtney), Issac Buckner, Rebecca (Grant) Gooch, Josh Buckner, Gracie Buckner, Quintin Manning, Tonee (Linda) Soto, Nikita (Edward) Peters, Jorge Soto, Alexis Kay Brooks, Kylin Grace Brooks, six great-grandchildren, two great-grandchildren on the way, and a host of nieces & nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, November 18, 2021 at Ramsey-Young Funeral Home with Rev. Tim Hall officiating and burial following at Camp Nelson National Cemetery, with full military rites by Caswell Saufley Post #18 of the American Legion. Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM until service time on Thursday, November 18, 2021 at the funeral home.  Friends & family may share memories or leave condolences on his tribute wall at : www.ramsey-young.com.
