William Steve Propes, 66, of Paint Lick, passed away Wednesday, July 28, 2021 at his home. Born September 6, 1954 in Casey County, he was a son of the late Ernest Lewis & Mary Elizabeth Downs Propes. Steve was a farmer and construction worker, who enjoyed riding and breaking horses, going to rodeos, being outdoors and his dogs. He was also a member of Mt. Tabor Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Christina Begley, two brothers, Lewis & Randall Propes, and four sisters, Wanda Clark, Eva Pierson, Brenda Crowe & Geneva Propes.
Steve’s survivors include his wife, Donna Ballard Propes, three daughters, Peggy (Ronald) Dickerson and Patty Gilbert of Richmond, Tasha Adams, of Danville, a step daughter, Jennifer (Steve) Slate, of Paint Lick, a step-son, Jerrid (Lena) Cutter, of Virginia, 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. He is also survived by two brother, Jimmy & James Propes, both of Crab Orchard, and three sisters, Linda (Earl) Adkins of Stanford, Mona (Charles) McElroy and Donna Fortune, both of Crab Orchard.
Funeral services for Steve will be 1:00 PM Monday, August 2, 2021 at Ramsey-Young Funeral Home with burial following in Lancaster Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Steven Carl Propes, Jonathon Propes, Rodney Clark, Arnold Begley, Charles McElroy & Jesse Crowe, with Jeffrey Sanford serving as honorary pallbearer. Visitation will be from 3:00—7:00 PM Sunday, August 1, 2021 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may go to Shriner’s Hospital.
