William “Brother/ Bill” Simpson, 90, of Lancaster, departed this life into his heavenly home Thursday, February 11, 2021 at the VA Hospital in Lexington. Born May 29,1930 to the late Rev. William T. “Bud” & Nettie Walker Simpson, of Danville. He was the oldest son of five siblings. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his late wife Mary Catherine; son, Richard (Ricky); brother, George T. grandmother & uncle, Allie & Richard Walker. He accepted Jesus Christ as his SAVIOR at the age of 11-12, under the pastorship of the late Rev. A.J. Baxter, of West Danville. He was married to the late Mary Catherine Turner, to which five children were a part of this union. He attended Bate School in Danville until he enlisted in the United States Army later transferring to the Army Reserve. He was honorably discharged in 1959. However, he later re-enlisted in the Army Reserves for several more years until finally retiring. He also attended Paducah Vocational School, where he studied auto & diesel mechanics. He retired from Hayne’s Trucking in Lexington after 20 + years. Like many others he was not a perfect man, yet he served a “Perfect God”. With that being said, he loved people, & people loved him. His joy was serving in the church as Deacon, daycare overseer, trustee, or wherever needed most. He faithfully attended Davistown Baptist Church, & Christ the Head Missionary Church, under the pastorships of Pastors Lawrence Gassett, Ben Carter, & the late Samuel Oleka.

To his family he had many loving endearments : dad, pops, granddad, Cuzin/Bruda (LOL), to name a few. Words & time will not permit how much William Sr. will be missed. His GQ style dress, kindness, strengths, gifts & abilities will be forever remembered in our hearts & minds. He leaves to cherish his memory a son, William Jr. “Robby” daughters, Diana “Dee -Dee”, Gwen, Karilon; sisters, Alicia (Bill), Wisconsin, Florence, Colorado, Martha (Marty), Texas; adorable grandchildren, Sanya (Luis), Shepherdsville, Damica, Georgia, Mon, Louisville, 8 precious great-grandchildren; friends, George, Coy, Joe, James, Pastor Ben Carter, & the late Dr. Samuel Oleka; church buddies, Clara, Lucinda, Marthetta, Amaka, Cheryl, Mary, Debra, Linda, the Clark Sisters, as well as a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
